Crying on the dancefloor

Here's a tearful mix by Johan Agebjörn, an icy Swedish italo god.
a note from him:
Hi people,
Here is a free Xmas mix for you, called "Crying on the dancefloor", made for Pitchfork. Mostly italo disco but also some other stuff which I thought fit to the title. A lot of inspiration sources for Sally Shapiro.

Where's Sally, that girl!

2. Valerie Dore: "Get Closer"
3. Sally Shapiro: "Skating In The Moonshine"

ghosts have colours

If you know me: you know that I hold Cut Copy close to my heart. From the first time I heard Future on a Kitsuné comp, I was floored! I immediately picked up Bright Like Neon Love and played it like there was no tomorrow.
Hearts on Fire was released earlier but you really didn't get a taste of the new album until So Haunted. I'll admit at first listen, I had already missed the rolling synths and neon beats, but the upcoming single Lights & Music still has me in lurve.

teases the crack in me

wow, last night's performance was incredible to say the least. i got there early to see if i can upgrade my ticket to a better seat with no luck. i ended up seeing my ex right after purchasing a ticket rows from the stage - i thought this show was sold out?!
whatevs, i tagged along until i was politely asked to go to my proper seat during the ratatat set. all of this would have completely embarrassed me but all of that was left at closest metro rail station. even the experience with my ex was sincere, for it IS our love for björk that keeps us grounded.

besides being transfixed by the visible package of ratatat's keyboardist during the opening set, i tried not to shed a tear during "unravel".

i'm still giddy.

8-bit love

my room looks like a fucking mess: empty beer cans, post-its with radon phone numbers, jean cocteau drawings, and sticky napkins decorate almost every surface. the truth is hardly anything is actually "dirty". most of the clothes scattered around just need to be pressed or folded. i have no time for all that once i stumbled across this site.
8-bit love, rolling drums, and vocoder smiles have me trolling around the room and looking for my super nintendo controller.

the "popcorn" remix alone is to die for:

Hot Butter - Popcorn (Binärpilot Remix)

los angeles weather sucks

Okay, so last week was fucking cold enough to rain and have me wishing for a warm lover to cuddle up with at night. Café Society's Somebody To Love swept through my mind while I froze my lonely soul. I say that now until I get fed up with you and throw you off the bed - I'm a bit selfish like that.
Julius Brown's Party is the perfect soundtrack for what I am feeling at the moment. The weather is hot (mostly unpredictable) and my inbox is full of party invitations, advance screenings, factory sales, and an occasional threatening note. All I want to do is DANCE and forgot about it all! Is it shallow to attend the least attractive event just because I "know" the music will be decent?

Sure you've heard The Ultimate Warlord by The Immortals but you must hear this version:
Little Casper and The MX's - The Ultimate Warlord

It's a lot sexier with the female vocals

and FINALLY,

a new ZOOT WOMAN track for all you Stuart Price bitches, though I don't think he's in the band anymore - yes, it's been that long.

Zoot Woman - We Won't Break

A Love Song

Un Chant d'Amour is French writer Jean Genet's only film, which he directed in 1950. Because of its explicit (though artistically presented) homosexual content, the 26-minute movie was long banned and was also disowned by Genet later in his life.
The plot is set in a French prison, where a prison guard takes voyeuristic pleasure in observing the prisoners perform masturbatory sexual acts. In two adjacent cells, there are an older Algerian-looking man and a handsome convict in his twenties. The older man is in love with the younger one, rubbing himself against the wall and sharing his cigarette smoke with his beloved through a straw.
The prison guard, apparently jealous of the prisoner's relationship, enters the older convict's cell, beats him, and makes him suck on his gun in an unmistakably sexual fashion. However, the inmate drifts off into a fantasy where he and his object of desire roam the countryside. In the final scene, it becomes clear that the guard's power is no match for the intensity of attraction between the prisoners, even though their relationship is not consummated.
Genet does not use sound in his film, forcing the viewer to focus only on closeups of faces, armpits, and semi-erect penises. The film's highly sexualized atmosphere has been recognized as a formative factor for works such as the films of Andy Warhol.

slippery when wet

So I've been sick these last couple of days. I'm feeling better now. But during my bed-ridden naps, I noticed the sky was starting to cry. It hasn't rained in Los Angeles for a very long time and when it does, it seems everyone forgets how to drive. All the oils collecting over the months gives southland motorist a different "feel" of the road. That means more car accidents and longer travel times. Now I know why it took me nearly an hour to get my medicine.

WHATEVER!

Here is some rolling-drum disco from 1979. It's the flipside of Gimme Some Lovin':
